Shelby Energy Youth Tour
Each summer, electric cooperatives from across the nation, send over 1,000 high school students to the nation's capital to learn about government and cooperatives. In our area, the trip is coordinated with the Kentucky Association of Electric Cooperatives (KAEC). High school juniors whose parents are served by Shelby Energy are eligible.
While in Washington, students have the opportunity to visit many historical sites such as Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, Arlington Cemetery, the Holocaust Museum and the Smithsonian Museums. There is even time for a dance and a cruise on the Potomac River! Applications are available in January each year from high school counselors, at either of Shelby Energy's offices, or you may print the application below.
