| The members of Shelby Energy
Cooperative Inc. nominate and elect six fellow members who
comprise our Board of Directors. These directors establish the
policies and manage the business affairs of the Cooperative.
To maintain fair representation, directors are
elected from each of the three Shelby Energy Cooperative districts
and serve staggered terms of three years as set forth in our
bylaws.
A nominating committee, made up of members from
the same district where a director's term expires, is appointed
during the Board's regular March meeting. This committee
must meet and prepare a list of nominees. Nominations may also be
made by petition as set forth in our bylaws.
Election of directors will be held at each
Annual Meeting. Members are encouraged to vote for their choice of
directors, either in person or by proxy. A member's right to vote
allows him/her to have a voice in the leadership of the
Cooperative.
The Board of Directors meets monthly at the
Shelby Energy Cooperative office in Shelbyville or as otherwise
determined by the Board.
