Shelby Energy Youth Tour

Each summer, electric cooperatives from across the nation, send over 1,000 high school students to the nation's capitol to learn about government and cooperatives.

In our area, the trip is coordinated with the Kentucky Association of Electric Cooperatives (KAEC). High school students in their junior year that reside in the Cooperative's service area are eligible.

While in Washington, students have the opportunity to visit many historical sites such as George Washington's Mt. Vernon, Arlington Cemetery, the Holocaust Museum and the Smithsonian Museums. In addition, they visit the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Kennedy Center, the U.S. Capitol, and visit with the legislators who represent our area in Washington. There is even time for a dance and a cruise on the Potomac River! Applications are available in February from high school counselors, at either of Shelby Energy's offices, or you may click on the link below to print the application.
